In 1979, the US Mint updated the mintmark "S" from regular(Filled) "S" to new(Clear) "S"
in the middle of the proof set production. The most(about 90%) of 1979 dated proof coins have the regular filled S mintmark(type 1), however, few(about 10%) of them have clear "S" mintmark(type 2).
