The
Eisenhower dollar, minted from 1971 through 1978, is America's
last full-sized dollar coin. Issued to honor President Dwight
D. Eisenhower as well as the first manned landing on the
moon, this handsome coin design is the work of US Mint Chief
Engraver Frank Gasparro
Issued
to honor Susan B. Anthony, an outspoken pioneer of women's
right, the first Anthony dollar was released in 1979. It
was the first small-sized "silver" dollar coin
struck by the US Mint, and the first circulating US coin
to depict an actual woman, rather than a symbolic representation. |
